Education

Hand Washing Stations and soap, Zambia

Due to  the Covid crisis, we provided for several hand-washing stations a bar of soap for each of the 2,000 students. Simultaneously they learn about the importance of hand washing in preventing disease.

Equipping a home economics class, Zambia

Elsa Miller Foundation fully equipped a home economics classroom with kitchen supplies and sewing machines.

School uniforms, Zambia

Locally tailored uniforms were donated to 177 children.

Renovation of Bathrooms, Zambia

School bathrooms were renovated.

Books, Zambia

Books, games and school supplies were delivered to the primary school for 2500 children.

Desks and chairs to classrooms, Zambia

Locally made desks have been added to the over-crowded classrooms so students no longer sit on the floor.

Vocational training: Solar panels to villages in Humla, Nepal

Elsa Miller Foundation supported a project brought forth by young people who had been trafficked away from their families in mountainous Humla region as children. Now, as professional young adults they wanted to help to help their villages by installing solar panels bringing light for the first time.

Doctoral research course, Tanzania

The Foundation financed the studies of a talented paediatrician at Harvard University.

The Foundation gave a grant to build kitchens and toilets to girls’ dormitories.

The Foundation continued supporting the CLI's  library boats on Mekong River, based in Luang Prabang.

Landmine Relief Fund (LRF), Cambodia

In 2022 the Foundation financed a renovation of 14 school buildings. The Foundation also supported LRF in 2021.

Architecture student workshop for Patient Flow, Rwanda

We supported an in-country architectural workshop among students from Aalto University,
Finland, and architecture students in Rwanda University, to solve a hospital patient flow
problem, thus expanding the knowledge and possibilities to improve also other hospitals.

Rwandan Fables into books, Rwanda

We supported the publishing of traditional Rwandan stories, in the local language of Kinyarwanda, by ImagineWe, a Kigali based publishing house.

Desks to Mt Makulu School, Zambia

We provided 180 locally-made new desks to accommodate the dramatically increased student
population at Mt. Makulu Basic School in Lusaka.

Toilets for a school, Zambia

We sponsored the building of a new separate toilet facility for the school. The toilet block will be
finished in February 2025.

Elementary School library in Arizona, USA

We restored the library at Village Meadows Elementary School - a Title I school serving a diverse population - with new shelving and furnishings and completely updating the collection of books.

School library in New Mexico, USA

We pledged a three year support for the library at the St. Joseph Mission School in rural San Fidel, NM that serves a Hispanic community as well as Acoma and Laguna Pueblos.

Heritage Park, Michigan, USA

Elsa Miller Foundation initiated and financed a landscape project to develop a Park on the grounds of the Menominee Range Historical Museum in Iron Mountain, MI to serve the local community as a celebration of its heritage.
